For more information, follow Telesat on X and LinkedIn or visitOur Software Development team architects, develops, tests and maintains the Telesat Lightspeed System Model application, a state-of-the-art engineering software tool running on high performance computing (HPC) infrastructure for the modeling of resource allocation and end-to-end communication system performance analysis of the Telesat Lightspeed satellite constellation.As a Software Developer Co-op, the selected candidate will actively participate in the development of intuitive and reactive user interfaces to the Telesat Lightspeed System Model. The selected candidate will work with the System Modeling team to efficiently create and integrate front-end software that will allow for evaluation of performance, process flow, and other analytical data, as well as allow control of specific functionality within System Model software. Main Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of a user experience for our System Model suite, to improve the ease of interacting with and evaluating the performance and other metrics, of these applications
  • Collaborate with other members of the System Modelling and Design team to understand requirements for the user experience we want to develop around System Model functionality
  • Collaborate with team members to iterate on a user experience that will meet requirements by writing front-end applications in using React and adjacent technologies
  • Work with members of the Software Development team to understand back-end services and tech stack to develop solutions for visualizing the functioning and performance of these services
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure the quality of code and its adherence to coding standards
  • Create and maintain documentation related to implementation and operation of software written in order to support knowledge sharing and transparency
Education and Experience Required:
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience developing user interfaces with ReactJS, Typescript/JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Knowledge of
or other visualization frameworks * Knowledge of some of the following: REST, Kafka or RabbitMQ, Object stores such as MinIO or S3, Postgres, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies

  • Fluent in English, written and oral. French is an asset.
