Job Summary
The Social Worker III, is a specialized clinical lead position that provides addictions assessment and therapeutic intervention services to individuals and/or family members. The incumbent is responsible for applying various treatment modalities including both individual and group counselling. The SW/AC Clinical Lead will practice from a trauma informed, harm reduction perspective utilizing a variety of therapeutic interventions including but not limited to CBT, DBT, postmodern narrative, solution focused, brief intervention therapy and relapse prevention. The position will participate in supporting addictions therapeutic pathways along a treatment continuum. This involves outpatient treatment and / or referral to inpatient treatment, if required, preparatory work for inpatient treatment and aftercare. The position will involve inter-collaborative practice with other clinicians in the broader mental health and addictions program. The Social Worker will be expected to provide clinical consultation to addictions counselors and field instruction for Social Work students. The successful applicant will work as part of an addictions team, and will be agreeable to scheduling flexibility to increase access to service for the population.

Regularly sits to consult with clients, conduct therapeutic sessions, and to work on the computer.
Occasionally works in awkward or cramped body positions; pushes, pulls, and sets up furniture for group work, and drives to conduct home visits with clients.
Regularly uses fine finger/precision work on a computer.

Job Qualifications
Graduation with a Clinical or Integrated Master\'s degree in Social Work from an accredited program with the MSW field placement in a clinical practice is required.
Current and continuing registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers (NLCSW) is required.
Minimum of five years of experience within the last seven working as a Social Worker in a mental health and addictions program is required.
Experience with brief therapy modalities is an asset.
ASIST training is an asset.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, including but not limited to, Mental Health Care and Treatment Act, Adult Protection Act, Advanced Health Care Directives Act, Medical Assistance in Dying, and the Children, Youth and Families Act.
Knowledge of the Recovery Model.
Knowledge of intake and assessment for pediatric programs within Mental Health and Addictions.
Knowledge of child and adolescent development and factors influencing development.
Knowledge of neuro-developmental disorders of childhood and their indicators.
Knowledge of internal Eastern Health and community-based resources.
Knowledge of crisis interventions and supportive counseling.
Knowledge of case management.
Demonstrated strong clinical leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to direct, supervise and mentor students.
Exhibited strong program development and evaluation skills.
Demonstrated proven analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making and organizational and research skills.
Exhibited strong written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to deliver/facilitate effective presentations.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Demonstrated ability to write proposals, develop and evaluate clinical projects.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interprofessional environment and provide clinical consultation.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, prioritizing caseloads and patient needs.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
