Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the management of the Southern Alberta Clinic (SAC), this advanced level clinical social work position provides a range of services to clients and their families. The incumbent must be able to work independently with a high degree of judgement and must be able to work effectively as part of an inter-professional team committing to strengthening team dynamics by actively engaging in inter-professional collaboration to enhance patient outcomes. In addition, the incumbent is required to have experience and knowledge in one or more modalities of psychotherapy: Individual, family or group. Key Responsibilities: Provides a broad knowledge of social work activities within a HIV/AIDS context such as support, counselling, resources allocation and participation in patient care rounds. Maintains an advanced level of ability to utilize one or more therapeutic modalities which include grief and loss, crisis counseling, mental health and addiction assessments and counselling and support for adjustment disorders. Provides written and verbal psychosocial assessment of the patient/family and their social environments. This is based on an in-depth understanding of HIV/AIDS. Initiates and maintains strong relationships with community organizations such as SafeLink, SHARP Foundation, peer counselors and other community initiatives. Represents the SAC clinic to community groups as delegated by management. Supervises students on a regular basis. Provides representation within SAC and assigned programs in committee work and program planning. Maintains appropriate records. Demonstrates commitment to continuing education. Description:

As a Social Worker III, you will perform either advanced level assessment and treatment or act as a clinical lead. You will work with or within teams to provide health care services for patients with complex and multidimensional medical, psychosocial, environmental and instrumental needs. You will provide advanced clinical services, consultation to the interprofessional team and patients/families and supervision of students and team members as assigned. You may also act as clinical lead providing leadership in the planning, development, delivery of services in a specific area, as well as staff development, quality improvement and evaluation or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s).

Required Qualifications: Completion of master\'s degree in Social Work. (equivalent education or experience may be considered). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW). Additional Required Qualifications: In depth knowledge and experience in working with income security programs at community, provincial and federal level. Experience in career counselling and rehabilitation counselling. Experience and knowledge in working with patients with addictions and psychiatric disorders. Experience in working with patients who are living with HIV/AIDS. Experience in working with patient who have chronic or life-threatening illnesses. Experience and knowledge with end-of-life issues. Experience and knowledge in one or more modalities of psychotherapy: individual, family or group. Demonstrated ability to work independently and creatively. Demonstrated ability to function effectively with a multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrated ability to independently organize activities and set priorities. As position includes outreach care, must be physically able to carry and lift 10 lb. Must be able to work with clients in community or hospital settings. Preferred Qualifications: Experience providing outreach care. Training and experience in one or more modalities of trauma therapy preferred.
