Your Opportunity:The University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) Campus is one of Canada's leading clinical research, and teaching hospitals, treating patients within a wide catchment area of the city of Edmonton, Northern Alberta, British Columbia, Northwest Territories and other parts of Canada. The hospital offers specialized diagnostic and treatment services to adult patients within Cardiac and Neurosciences, Surgery, Medicine, Orthopedics, Renal, Critical Care, Burns, Transplants and Trauma, as well as the specialty ambulatory clinics located across the hospital campus. The UAH Social Work (SW) Team is part of the centralized Rehabilitation and Allied Health Program, providing program-based care. This SW position primarily supports patients in the Emergency Department and may be required to work in other care settings, providing an opportunity to expand knowledge and clinical competency in multiple clinical areas. The UAH provides and supports excellent learning opportunities through monthly discipline-specific and interdisciplinary professional practice events, communities of practice, and access to site-based rounds. Mentorship opportunities are available to further enhance professional growth by leveraging the vast collective experiences of other professionals on site. As a leading teaching hospital, it is expected all Social Workers support student clinical placements. The UAH is centrally located in Edmonton and is at the heart of the academic campus, Old Strathcona and the beautiful North Saskatchewan river valley. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW). Additional Required Qualifications:Current Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) certification is required. Acute care experience within the last 2 years preferably at an urban or tertiary level facility. Excellent command of the English language demonstrated through excellence in verbal and written communication skills and active listening. Demonstrates compassion and empathy to patients, families and colleagues. Collaborative, cooperative and adaptable. Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, Teams and PowerPoint is required. Quality of work must meet departmental and organizational expectations. Demonstrated clarity in your communication, organization and consistency of ideas, both verbally and written, including clinical documentation, is required. Must be highly motivated, confident, and enthusiastic individual with a positive attitude whose work aligns with AHS Values. Able to act quickly and decisively using critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Able to utilize strong judgment by analyzing facts, considering the impact, and arriving at a sound conclusion, seeking counsel when appropriate. You can work independently and as a part of the team creating strong, effective interpersonal working relationships with peers and other caregivers. Reliable, punctual, and uses time effectively. Preferred Qualifications:Familiarity with Netcare, Connect Care are preferred.
