Your Opportunity:Located in N.E. Calgary, the Peter Lougheed Centre (PLC) is an acute care hospital offering both inpatient and outpatient services. The PLC has over 600 inpatient beds, including Medical, Surgical, Pediatrics, Women\'s Health and Critical Care. The PLC is the Vascular Centre for Southern Alberta, Southwestern Saskatchewan and Southeastern British Columbia. The Allied Health Department at the PLC is comprised of Social Work, Rehabilitation, and Spiritual Care staff. These staff work as vital members of the interdisciplinary team to provide patient and family-centered care throughout the hospital. Under general supervision from the Clinical Leader and Allied Health management, the successful candidate will provide Social Work services to the medical and surgical units at the PLC. These services are primarily clinical in nature, and include psychosocial assessments, counseling, case management and discharge planning. This caseload may change based on operational needs. In addition, support to other patient care units will be required to manage daily workload across the Social Work team. This position requires the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and yet function as part of the interdisciplinary team. At all times the Social Worker ensures he/she is compliant with ACSW standards of practice.Description:As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:Completion of bachelor\'s degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW). Additional Required Qualifications:Previous experience in medical social work in last 3 years. Recent Social work experience within an acute care setting on medical and surgical units. Recent experience working with patients/families facing chronic illness. Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with members of the interdisciplinary team, patients and families in a dynamic health care setting. Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills to efficiently organize and prioritize workload to keep pace in a busy multi-disciplinary patient care. Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in Emergency dept and Mat/Child unit is an asset.
