Social Worker, Counselling Therapist

Kentville, NS

Permanent Full-time (part-time also available)

The opportunity

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, you will provide short-term mental health services to our clients, in a LifeWorks office in Kentville. Service will be provided in person, via telephone or video.

What you will do

• Provide short-term mental health services;
• Provide support to a diverse set of clients for various presenting issues, including but not limited to mental health distress and/or substance use concerns;
• Provide referrals and information about other available services;
• Manage associated administrative requirements of the role.

Who we are looking for

• Master's Degree in Counselling, Social Work, Indigenous Social Work or Psychology is mandatory;
• Membership with Nova Scotia College of Social Workers or Counselling Therapists is mandatory;
• Minimum of two years of post-masters clinical experience;
• Strong assessment skills and ability to work within a short-term model;
• Ability to use a solution focused approach and to set short term objectives;
• Ability to clinically manage high-risk cases;
• Excellent time-management skills with the ability to handle a large volume of clients;
• Must be flexible to work days and evening shifts (12 to 8pm). Weekend hours are also an option.
