Working collaboratively with other health care providers and the multidisciplinary team, the Social Worker provides direct psychosocial care, system navigation and advocacy. The Social Worker is responsible for providing and developing social work services to maintain or improve the health and social well-being and functioning of the residents.QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And Experience

• Bachelor\'s Degree in Social Work from an accredited university; and
• Registered and in good standing with the British Columbia College of Social Workers; and
• Two years\' experience in a health care setting, preferably in the areas of Gerontology or Chronic Diseases; and
• Must have a working knowledge of health care-related legislation and community resources and programs.

An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.Skills And AbilitiesAssessment and Treatment: Demonstrated ability to complete initial and ongoing client assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) through appropriate/prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions.Teaching: Ability to teach clients and others both one-on-one and in groups.Knowledge Integration: Integrates best practice and current research evidence to support professional practice decisions and actions.Communication: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, the public, medical staff and members of the interdisciplinary team using verbal, written, computer communication means. Ability to effectively apply conflict resolution skills..Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve and make decisions effectively. Applies the problem solving process demonstrating critical thinking and decision making skills using a systems approach.Human Caring and Relationship Centered Practice: Ability to promote client-focused care that demonstrates care for and with clients and significant others, sensitivity to diverse cultures and preferences, client advocacy and social justice concerns.Management: Demonstrated ability to organize work, set objectives and establish priorities. Ability to operate other related equipment as required in the specific practice area.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.Link to Full Additional information for applicantsThis is a temporary full time float position shared between the Priory, Glengarry and Saanich Peninsula Long Term Care. There is an option to work an additional 19 minutes per day for an Earned Day Off (EDO) every 5th week. This is a BSW minimum position, however, if you have an MSW degree you will be paid the corresponding rate.
