Job Description

The Acute Care Program is currently recruiting a full-time, temporary (12 months) Social Worker 2 to work in the Crisis Critical Care Treatment Unit 6. The successful candidate will be a social worker with sound knowledge of emergency psychiatry, crisis intervention, and substance use concerns. Identifying and addressing psychosocial issues in both individual and group sessions is required. The social worker will function as part of an interprofessional team, and will act as a resource person and deliver relevant social work services to clients, their families and others. You will participate in the assessment and treatment process, and will engage clients in a discharge planning process through individual, group and team sessions. As part of the treatment and discharge process, you will provide psycho-education and supportive counselling to patients and their families. Contributing to the group program on the inpatient units will also be required. You will be expected to contribute to program development, research and education activities of the service. Candidates must be capable of providing supervision of masters of social work students, collaborating with faculties of social work on special projects related to the development of the social work field and contributing to the development of best practices unique to the social work field. You will support and contribute to a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is currently located at the Queen Street Site.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Master's of Social Work degree combined with a preferred 3 years of post-graduate work experience and be registered and a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Experience on an inpatient unit is an asset. Preference will be given to those candidates with experience in acute care of clients with a range of psychiatric diagnosis, sound knowledge of DSM-IV diagnoses, crisis intervention theory and techniques, experience in providing instrumental assistance to clients, and experience in facilitating psycho-educational/supportive counselling and groups. The model of care on the new unit will emphasize treatment of concurrent disorders and you will have opportunities for capacity building and skill development. Successful completion of TIDES training is an asset. Experience working with clients, staff and organizations of diverse ethnoracial backgrounds is required. You will also possess excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member in a dynamic, interprofessional environment. Bilingualism (English/French) or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with a transitional aged youth population (age 18-29)

Salary Range: $36.04 - 48.57 per hour
