Job Description


The Complex Care and Recovery Program is currently seeking a full-time, permanent Social Worker 2 to work in the Psychosis Recovery and Treatment, Unit 8 (PRT 8). Reporting to the Unit Manager, you will be a member of an active inpatient unit working with people with severe and persistent mental illness. The Complex Care and Recovery Program is client centered and treatment is based on the principles of recovery for adults with major mental illness, predominantly Schizophrenia and Concurrent Disorders. As a member of an interprofessional team, you participate in the assessment and treatment process needed to proactively engage clients in a discharge planning process. Your expertise will provide responsive and dignified care of clients to the meet their therapeutic needs. You will be responsible for conducting psychosocial-based assessments, assess and make referrals for financial support and provide supportive counselling to clients, their families and caregivers from diverse backgrounds. You will assume a role in the client\xe2\x80\x99s psychosocial activities \xe2\x80\x93 particularly in addressing the housing, income and discharge needs. You will have sound knowledge of schizophrenia, concurrent disorders and apply the recovery principles in practice. Other duties will include formulating treatment plans, completing standardized assessments, participate in treatment discussions and in interprofessional team treatment plans, monitor client\xe2\x80\x99s response to therapeutic interventions and communicating with the client\xe2\x80\x99s social and community networks. Using your excellent interpersonal skills, you will network with other referral sources in coordinating a smooth flow of clients within the various services of the program. You will liaise with community providers and participate in the education of clients and their families, and mental health providers both within and outside the Centre. You are expected to contribute to program development, and to the research and educational activities of the program. Candidates must be capable of providing supervision of masters of social work students, collaborating with faculties of social work on special projects related to the development of the social work field and contributing to the development of best practices. You will provide relevant social work services reflective of the needs of the client population and support a safe and therapeutic environment. Workload data entry is a job requirement. You will support and contribute to a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all the applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located at 1001 Queen Street West.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Master\xe2\x80\x99s of Social Work degree combined with a preferred 3 years of post-graduate work experience and be registered and a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. You must be eligible for an adjunct faculty appointment with faculties of Social Work that have affiliation agreements with CAMH. Knowledge of relevant community resources and working with families/significant others is required. Inpatient experience in a mental health setting is an asset. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment are essential. You possess excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work effectively as a team member in a dynamic, fast paced, interprofessional inpatient environment is essential. You possess demonstrated knowledge and experience in assessment, rehabilitation and concurrent disorders. In addition, you possess fundamental knowledge and application of the current Best Practices for clients living with severe and persistent mental illness. Experience working with clients, staff and organizations of diverse ethno racial backgrounds is required. Computer skills, including word processing, electronic communication, and workload measures are essential. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Salary Range: $36.04 - $48.57 per hour
