The Role:
Reporting to the Supervisor, the Social Skills Facilitator facilitates Skill Building Groups for individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder within the Social Skills Group Services programs. Programs run in Centre and remotely.
Core Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Facilitate implementation of programming in specified groups of children, adolescents and/or adults
  • Prepares, implements, and evaluates targeted program plans and social skill related activities related to manualized curricula
  • Work in conjunction with the Team Leads and Supervisor for ongoing program development
  • Participate in screening sessions to assess and form compatible groups of participants
  • Facilitate ongoing caregiver communication and participates in caregiver training sessions
  • Participate in group preparation (including room set up, material preparation, etc.)
  • Complete/maintain all appropriate administrative records in a timely manner (e.g. case notes, consent and release forms, reports, etc.)
  • Administer pre-group and post-group questionnaires for the participant and caregiver

Successful candidates will bring the following:
  • Recognized University/College education in a relevant discipline
  • Experience in facilitating social skill building groups for children, youth, and adults with ASDs
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the principles of applied behaviour analysis
  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of early childhood education, child development and Autism
  • Demonstrated problem solving, classroom management and managing challenging behaviours
  • Experience implementing crisis management techniques (CPI)
  • Be prepared to work in a structured environment
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and leadership skills

Working Conditions:
  • Evening and weekends
  • Remote and/or in centre services
