Our Redirect Program in Red Deer is seeking a Full-Time Redirect Outreach Worker
The Redirect Program is funded through the City of Red Deer and has been created to provide services to children and youth who engage in high-risk criminal type behavior and/or are being exposed to such activity. In addition to providing client centered and strength-based approach to clients the program will also provide community awareness and education. Redirect will target children between the ages of 6 and 11 who are experiencing or are diagnosed with FASD, PDD or other complex needs. The secondary focus is on youth between the ages of 12-18 with similar complex needs.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
Diploma at minimum, preferred Degree directly related to Human Services
Minimum 1 year frontline human services experience, preferred experience with complex needs or co occurring disabilities.
Proof of Membership in Professional Association (when applicable)
Basic First Aid Level C with Adult, Child, and Infant CPR &AED
Suicide Intervention Training & De-Escalation Training
Intervention Record & Criminal Record Check with the vulnerable sector
Class 5 driver's license, clean drivers abstract and reliable vehicle for occasional client transportation required.
Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Culture considered an asset.
Strong documentation and assessment skills.
Knowledge and understanding of Connect Parenting considered an asset.
Responsibilities include:
Meet with families to gain an understanding of the concerns and needs.
Meet with other professionals (RCMP, Mental Health Practitioners) to gather information regarding the child/youth.
Complete intake with the family and establish goals.
Assign group work for both child/youth and guardian(s) involved (using an evidence-based approach)
Provide Connect 10 week educational program to support parents and caregivers
Expose the child/youth to positive community involvement through youth work, recreation activities and experiential learning activities and building positive community connections
Wage Range: $27.28-$30.51 per hour, wage to be negotiated based on education and experience. Plus, Travel Reimbursement at $0.57/KM.
