Job Description

RED Mountain Resort is seeking a motivated, self-starter with a sharp wit and a personality that aligns with RED's brand to join us as our Social Media Marketing Coordinator. This full-time, seasonal position will begin in early December and conclude at the end of the winter season, with the potential for a contract extension based on business needs and individual performance. The role is based in our Marketing and Sales Office in Rossland, BC, and will be responsible for managing the day-to-day needs of RED's brand across various social media channels.


Reporting to the Sales & Marketing Manager, this individual will be the voice of RED on social platforms, ensuring our online community is up-to-date with everything happening at the resort--from snowfall updates to event coverage, promotions for our departments (Ski School, Rafters Bar, Piste Off Supply Co., Lodging properties), as well as sharing new photos, videos, and PR updates. You'll also be involved in creative brainstorming for weekly content creation, categorical posts, and fan engagement campaigns that capture the excitement of life at RED.

General Responsibilities:



CONTENT MANAGEMENT & STRATEGY

Daily Oversight:

Manage and maintain RED's social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Staff Facebook, and TikTok.

Content Distribution:

Organize and distribute engaging visual content from RED's athletes, photographers, videographers, and influencers on all appropriate social channels.

Video Management:

Upload and manage videos on YouTube & Facebook playlists.

Event Calendar:

Regularly update and build out the RED Facebook Events Calendar for the season.

Social Media Calendar:

Develop a strategic social media calendar for posts, campaigns, events coverage, and more to ensure timely and consistent content delivery.
CONTENT CREATION +

Daily Copy & Visuals:

Write compelling copy and create posts that visually highlight RED and Rossland as premier North American destinations.

Instagram Stories:

Execute daily photo/video content for Instagram stories, showcasing behind-the-scenes moments, snowfall, events, apres activities, and more.

Creative Brainstorming:

Conceptualize and create social media contests, fan engagement campaigns, and categorical hashtag posts for Instagram, Facebook, and IG Stories.

Reels & Video Creation:

Develop engaging Reel content using both pre-shot footage and original content covering events, behind-the-scenes stories, and unique RED experiences.
RESEARCH & TREND MONITORING +

Social Media Trends:

Stay informed on the latest social media feature rollouts, viral trends, and new content strategies.

Competitor & Brand Research:

Monitor competitors and other active brands in the ski and adventure lifestyle space to keep content fresh and relevant.
GUEST EXPERIENCE & ENGAGEMENT +

Brand Representation:

Provide exceptional customer service across social channels, ensuring all interactions are quick, friendly, and on-brand.

Community Engagement:

Respond to comments, messages, and mentions promptly, fostering positive relationships with guests and followers.
REPORTING & ANALYTICS +

Social Media Reporting:

Generate weekly reports analyzing the growth and performance of all social channels.

Performance Insights:

Use data to identify trends, measure engagement, and suggest improvements for future content and strategies.
MANAGEMENT OF RED SUB-BRANDS' SOCIAL CHANNELS + Constella: A Cabin Collective: Instagram (1-2 posts per week)
- Highlight the unique experience of staying at Constella, focusing on visuals of the cabins, stunning views, and first-track mornings.
- Re-share tagged stories from guests daily
+ Rafters Bar: Facebook and Instagram (1-2 posts per week)
- Promote Rafters with posts & stories covering live music, food specials, apres activities, beer on tap, and the lively party atmosphere.
- Re-share tagged stories from guests daily.
+ Nowhere Special: Facebook and Instagram (1 post every other week)
- Highlight the modern hostel experience and proximity to RED's ski slopes.
- Re-share tagged stories from guests daily.

Job Requirements:



Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Proven experience in social media management, content creation, and digital marketing. Prior experience in ski resort marketing is a strong plus. Strong sense of humor, sarcasm, and a light-hearted personality to align with RED's brand voice. Exceptional grammar and excellent writing skills. Must be a clear and concise communicator. Positive attitude with a flexible schedule, especially during snowfall and for event coverage. Weekend work will be required. Solid understanding of the RED brand, Rossland community, and the ski/snowboard industry and culture as a whole. Proficiency in managing social media accounts across multiple platforms using both computers and mobile devices. Extensive experience with business use of Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. Good storytelling skills to create engaging and authentic content. Basic photo and video editing skills. Understanding of best practices for connecting audiences to a brand across various channels and optimizing those channels from a brand perspective. Familiarity with social media tools and analytics platforms such as Later and Meta Business Suite. Advanced skiing ability: must confidently ski off-piste and handle black diamond terrain in variable conditions. Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency status or an already obtained work permit.

Wage:

$22.00 - $26.00 per hour.
