About
The Downtown Niagara Falls BIA is currently seeking outgoing, enthusiastic, qualified candidates for the position of Social Media and Communications Assistant. As a member of the BIA staff team, you will be a key contributor to the success of the Downtown and the growth of small local businesses. Going into the fall season, you will also be assisting with the marketing, communications, and social media for the Niagara Falls Christmas Market.Must be a student, enrolled in at least one course starting in September for the duration of the position.Social Media Management

  • Selecting photographs and writing captions for social media posts.
  • Knowledge of all social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest etc.
  • Scheduling posts via apps like Later, Slicktext, Facebook Business Suite etc.
  • Engaging with influencer accounts, community members etc. & ultimately growing the followers on all platforms.
  • Answering messages and comments in a polite and professional manner.
  • Willing and comfortable with appearing in Tiktoks and other video content.
  • Participate in monthly content calendar meetings.
  • Come up with social media strategies and ideas.
  • Research and stay on top of social media trends.
  • Follow and share ongoing events and promotions from local businesses and organizations daily.
  • Experience handling social media accounts & posting engaging & trending content.
  • Ensure that all social media accounts/platforms are active by posting frequently to feed and stories.
Communications
  • Writing blog posts that use keywords and keep SEO top of mind.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices.
  • Writing formal press releases for the media.
  • Assist in the creation of monthly newsletters for a variety of audiences.
  • Other communication tasks as assigned.
Requirements
  • Must be a student, enrolled in at least one course starting in September for the duration of the position.
  • Pursuing a degree in social media, communications, marketing or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience, working as a communications/social media assistant or in any other related field is considered an asset.
  • Photography experience is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with Dropbox and other similar platforms.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Able to give and receive constructive criticism.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract, Internship / Co-op
Contract length: 4 months
Part-time hours: 15-35 per weekSalary: From $16.00 per hourBenefits:
