Your Role:
As
the Recreation Manager
, you'll be the heartbeat of our home's recreational life. You'll lead the development and execution of programs that enrich the lives of our residents, support their health and well-being, and build a strong sense of community.
Key Responsibilities:
Create, lead, and inspire innovative, resident-centered programs that run 7 days a week, including evenings and
special events
.
This role is very hands on, making sure the building feels vibrant and busy!
Welcome resident input with open arms and adjust activities to suit their evolving interests and needs.
Supervise & lead the Recreation team.
Chair regular resident meetings to ensure voices are heard and valued.
Oversee volunteers, students, and community placements to ensure a smooth, supportive experience for all.
Monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve the quality of programming.
Keep the home feeling lively and festive with tasteful seasonal decorations.
Lead community initiatives and special events with creativity.
Communicate regularly with families and loved ones, fostering trust and openness.
Whole-Facility Event Planning & Execution
: Lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of large-scale, whole-house events for diverse populations. Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to ensure smooth execution
Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement -
expand our current volunteer recruitment program, fostering a positive culture, creating meaningful experiences.
What You Bring:
Diploma or degree in Recreation/Leisure Studies or equivalent
Dementia Training, Dementiability, Eden Alternative, Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) in Dementia Care
Training in gerontology is a strong asset
Leadership experience and team-building skills
Knowledge of retirement home programming and community resources
A deep, genuine commitment to resident-centered care
Creativity, flexibility, and an energetic personality
This role must be flexible, working evenings and weekends.
Must having a
Drivers Licence and willing to drive the accessible Van
Working Conditions:
You'll be interacting regularly with residents and their families, handling emotional moments with care and calm. This role involves physical activity, including lifting and setting up equipment. The environment is fast paced, with frequent interruptions and a need for quick, compassionate problem-solving. This position is not a desk job and needs to be on the floor with the Residents.
