Job Summary:
This seasonal role focuses on operating a skid steer to efficiently clear snow from roads, parking lots, and other designated areas during the winter season. The position requires skilled equipment handling, attention to safety protocols, and the ability to work in challenging weather conditions to keep sites safe and accessible.This role requires availability for on-call shifts during snow events, including days, nights, and weekends.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Equipment Operating:
Operate skid steer equipment to efficiently remove snow and ice from commercial, industrial, and residential properties, ensuring all surfaces are safe and accessible. Safely operate company trucks while hauling trailers to efficiently transport equipment and supplies to and from various job sites.
Equipment Management:
Conduct routine inspections to ensure all tools and mechanical equipment are in good working order and are properly maintained and secured at the end of each shift. Inspect, maintain, and perform basic troubleshooting on skid steer and related equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Safety and Inspection:
Conduct comprehensive pre- and post-trip inspections of all assigned vehicles and equipment, accurately completing required maintenance logs and documentation. Promptly report any equipment malfunctions, maintenance requirements, or safety hazards to the Supervisor. Ensure required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn at all times.
Technology Utilization:
Use mobile applications (e.g., Aspire, Asset Tiger, Sitedocs) for accurate timekeeping, record-keeping, and safety reporting.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Availability and Reliability:
Must possess the flexibility and commitment to work irregular hours and respond quickly and reliably, often on short notice, as dictated by weather conditions. This includes extensive availability for early morning, daytime, night, and weekend shifts, as well as statutory holidays.
Operating Experience
:Proven experience (typically 2+ years) skid steer, preferably in a commercial snow removal environment. Must have a Class 5 Driver's License with a clean abstract, and experience driving trucks and trailers.
Communication Skills
: Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to readily accept and follow direction from supervisory and management personnel.
Transportation:
Must have reliable personal transportation to and from our shop located at 20924 100 Ave NW.
Safety Focus:
Demonstrated strong commitment to workplace health and safety principles.
Assets:
Knowledge of basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
Proven experience (typically 2+ years) operating wheel loaders.
Air Brakes Endorsement.
Work Environment:
Work in an outdoor environment, where the employee will be exposed to a variety of weather conditions, including, cold, wind, rain, and snow.
