The Lawn Barbers are hiring

Plow & Sand Truck Operators

for the Winter Season. Join our ice and snow team focused on efficient snow clearing and de-icing.

All roles are on-call, often early morning or at times overnight, and contingent on winter conditions. Candidates must be available on short notice, round the clock.



We service commercial, industrial, and residential properties. Join our team and grow with us! There will be an opportunity at the end of the Winter Season for winter crew members to be hired permanently to join our team for full time year-round employment with our Spring, Summer & Fall lawn maintenance crew.

Responsibilities:



- Safe and efficient operation of spreader, plow wing, to perform snow removal on parking lots and driveways per contract requirements

- Maintain accurate documentation (Jobber notes)

- Maintain/clean equipment and conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs as required

- Understand route map and sand/salt applications

- Responsible for removing snow and ice from designated areas, such as parking lots, driveways, and roadways.

- Apply salt, sand or other de-icing agents to surfaces to prevent ice formation and improve safety according to schedule, safety procedures, and label instructions

- Perform routine maintenance and inspections of snow removal equipment to ensure it operates safely and effectively

- Ensure that all snow removal activities are conducted safely, including the proper use of safety gear and equipment.

- Complete a daily "circle check" inspection of truck and equipment before taking the vehicle out on the road and upon return to the yard

- Coordinate with operations manager to provide updates on snow removal progress and any problems that may arise

- Ensure all tools and equipment, shovels, etc. are returned to their proper place after use

- Report any repairs of equipment or vehicle to Shop manager / mechanic and Operations Manager

- Report any snow and or ice control issues to the Operations Manager

- Conduct site inspections prior to and after work completed in accordance with company standards

- Maintain a positive work environment with crew members and all other employees

- Assist in maintaining cleanliness of vehicle, facility and yard

- Be prepared to respond to emergency situations, such as heavy snowfall during the night, to ensure safety and accessibility

- Ability to communicate effectively to your peers and customers

- Understand all safety regulations including training and direction of staff

Qualifications:



- Must have a valid driver's license with a clean drivers abstract

- 1-year experience working in snow removal (operating a plow truck)

- 1-year experience managing a team (preferred but not mandatory)

- Must possess a cellphone with data 24/7 (monthly data allowance provided)

- on-call availability, especially during evenings, weekends, and holidays from November to April

- Ability to lift 80+ pounds

- Good customer service skills are essential to handle inquiries and requests professionally

- Strong communication and organizational skills

- Reliability and the ability to respond to emergencies or work during irregular hours, such as nights and weekends, may be required

Hours:



- Guaranteed 30hrs/ week of available work

o Various tasks may be added to this position to fill those hours (ex: shop organization and clean-up, equipment cleaning, office, and shop renovations, etc.)

- Potential of 50-60 + hour weeks (depending on weather)

- Overtime pay applicable to any hours worked over 40 hours in a week

- If vacation time or days off are required, they must be approved in advance in order to provide time to cover your route

Wage:



$25 - 28 / hr based on experience (wage is negotiable)

Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
