As the Small equipment storeperson, you will provide warehousing services to the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) for all fleet, personnel equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. This includes inventory and asset management, the coordination of maintenance, reporting, fulfilling requisitions and work orders, purchasing, and a delivery/pick up service. Primary duties include:
• Liaise with the Fleet & Equipment Helpline to manage supplier repairs, inspections, or alterations.
• Update knowledge on products and equipment to ensure customer confidence and adherence to regulatory standards.
• Provide on-call support for inquiries and attends the workplace during off-hours.
• Issue inventory, fulfilling requisitions or work orders for inventory and non-inventory items using RF devices and inventory systems.
• Assemble PPE and service kits to meet requirements for units and personnel.
• Obtain quotes and performs ad-hoc purchases of non-inventory items, ensuring compliance with the City's Procurement and Credit Card Policies.
• Equip new stations with kitchenware, operational door accessories, and security devices.
• Collaborate with Inventory Planning to verify business unit information and create inventory items, including labeling and marking for easy identification.
• Deliver and collects equipment, consumables, and PPE for customer personnel, stations, and other entities within the Fire Department.
• Complete safety and time reporting, training, and administrative tasks.
Qualifications • A High school diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED) and additional job-related course work in Warehousing, Inventory Management, or Supply Management, and at least 3 years of experience in warehousing operations. OR;
• A Journeyman Parts or Material Technician Certificate or Interprovincial Red Seal and at least 2 years of supply chain experience in warehousing operations.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits is required.
• Success in this position requires well developed planning and organizational skills with demonstrated customer focus, strong communication, problem solving and leadership skills.
Working Conditions: Warehouse setting an area for desk work; frequent visits to the garage to coordinate and move equipment for inspection and repair, resulting in exposure to hazards such as fumes, chemicals, noise, heavy equipment. Driving duties resulting in exposure to various weather and driving conditions. Handles returned firefighter PPE with potential exposure to contaminates and biohazards.
Pre-employment Requirements • A security clearance will be conducted.
• Must obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
• Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
Pre-employment Drug Test: An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis.
