Small Equipment Engineering Technologist

Job Description


Do you have a knack for problem-solving and a passion for technology? In this role, you'll take ownership of our small equipment inventory, optimizing its lifecycle and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. You'll be a key player in supporting our diverse operations teams and making a tangible difference in our city's operations.What will you do?

  • Work with Infrastructure Operations personnel to monitor small equipment inventory for teams across all operational yards.
  • Coordinate, Schedule,Track and Participate in seasonal Audits twice a year or as required, and the life cycle and maintenance for all small power equipment.
  • Engrave unit numbers on small equipment and add asset tags to units.
  • Inputting unit information on various databases, spreadsheets, or software as required.
  • Run various reports on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Work with functional teams and management to research, pilot and recommend new technologies and equipment
  • Recommend equipment purchases, maintenance, replacement and/or repair within the allocated budget
  • Work with Finance in small equipment inventory and cost reconciliation
  • Comply with Parks and Roads Services policies and procedures related to the Storage Security and Inventory of Small Equipment
  • Act as Key Box system administrator; ensure key system and vehicle/equipment inventory is up to date, and access is provided to the appropriate personnel and run specific audit reports.
  • Other related duties as required
Qualifications
  • Completion of a 2 year diploma in a related Engineering technological program such as Civil, Construction, Mechanical, or Engineering design from a recognized institute of technology
  • Applicants must be recognized as a Certified Engineering Technologist in Training (E.E.T.) with ASET
  • 2 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in inventory management
  • Experience with yard operations
Assets:
  • Experience working in municipality operations
Skills required for success:
  • Knowledge in Occupational Hazards and Safety policies and legislation
  • Experience using SAP for receiving quotes from vendors, purchase of small equipment, and creating POxe2x80x99s
  • Knowledge of equipment and materials used to support PARS operations
  • Adapts to changing managerial or scheduling priorities
  • Exhibits self motivation and strong organizational skills
  • Strong ability to meet deadlines and produce accurate results
  • Adept in the use of technology and computer programs
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across various teams and programs
  • Experience in conflict resolution and dealing with difficult citizens
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills

  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position

  • The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
