Sky (safe Kids & Youth) Coordinator

Summary:

Reporting to the SKY Regional Manager, the Kootenay Boundary Community Services Co-operative (KBCSC, or "the Koop") is seeking a part-time SKY Coordinator to implement and oversee the day-to-day activities of the SKY Child and Youth Advocacy (CYAC) program in the West Kootenay region.

Description:

The SKY (Safe Kids & Youth) CYAC aims to ensure that children and youth in our region who come forward about their experiences of abuse, violence or neglect receive the best possible response from the range of services they connect with. Coordination and collaboration among the various agencies are key to creating the intended result. Working closely with other SKY Coordinator(s) and the SKY Regional Manager, the SKY Coordinator participates in program development and continued adaptation of the CYAC coordinated response across the West Kootenay region. This includes coordinating multidisciplinary teams in several communities, providing system navigation information to SKY clients, and ensuring that the coordinated response continues to advance best practices for Child and Youth Advocacy Centres. 3 years relevant experience, including 2 years program management is required. Preference may be given to candidates with a Bachelor's degree in a related human/social service or administrative field. It also requires knowledge of the impact of trauma on children and youth, the justice and child welfare systems, and an understanding of the Child and Youth Advocacy Centre model. Significant experience required in relationship building, group leadership, multi-disciplinary team development, cultural competency and socially inclusive practice; excellent communication and public relations skills; and skills with budgeting and web-based tools and technology. This position is available to start as soon as possible. Work hours are 21 hours per week, between Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Occasional meetings, trainings or events may occur outside the usual hours. The position is based in the West Kootenay region and requires travel across the region and a home office. Access to a vehicle, valid driver's license, confidential and professional home office, and successful criminal records check is required.

The wages for this position will start at $33.77 per hour, plus benefits according to the KBCSC benefit package. A full job description is available on our website.
