TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH - Coordinator/Instructor




New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that foster people's hopes and dreams in their communities.

Training Opportunities for Youth (TOFY)

is one of the many service areas within Culture, Education and Training at New Directions. TOFY provides wrap around care management, teaching of life and employment skills as well as on the job training for youth 16 - 19 years old who have multiple barriers to success in life.


The

Instructor

is responsible for planning, organizing and developing the food and beverage services for Cafe 6, a social enterprise.

Primary areas of responsibility will include, but are not limited to:



Creating and developing new initiatives that will lead to training opportunities. Interviewing participants for possible training opportunities. Tracking participants' training, attendance, performance and skill levels. Conducts bi-weekly supervision meetings with staff. Scheduling and facilitating staff meetings. Assisting with interviewing and hiring. Liaising with the Property Service Coordinator of New Directions. Assisting with completion of training agreements and fulfilling contracts as required. Providing supervision and direction to Cafe 6 (social enterprise) As well as day monitoring/directing training areas. Responsible for order fulfilment, communication with customers, communication with accounting on systems to collect payment and tracking of payments.

The successful candidate will have:



Post-secondary degree in Education, Business or Social Services Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience with staff and participants Strong organization and communication skills, both verbal and written. Time management skills, scheduling, and ability to delegate Excellent computer skills and working with all types of computer programs Experience in the hospitality, trades and textile industries Experience supporting at risk youth considered an asset Knowledge and understanding of related safe work procedures Knowledge of proper food procedures and kitchen licensing Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's license with access to a vehicle


The salary range for this 70-hour bi-weekly position is $33.90 to $42.71 per hour dependent upon education and/or experience. This position is eligible for a full benefits package (which includes Health and Dental Benefits, Long Term Disability Benefits, and a Pension Plan).



The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record, and Child and Adult Abuse Registry checks. A recent Driver's Abstract must be provided.
