Skilled Underground Telecom Construction Laborer position description This position is for work on telecom FTTH projects in the Ottawa, Ontario region
- excavation of proper sized holes to fit ground level boxes (GLB)
- Installation of telecom cable/fiber ground level boxes (GLB)
- conduit and pipe connections inside the GLBs
- Installation of cable/fiber pedestals (above ground boxes)
- pulling fibers into the pedestals and perform connections
- Perform daily tailboard with crew
- Report safety issues to onsite-supervisor or supervisor
- Drive company vehicle to site if necessary
- Ensure work truck is inspected and contains all the tools, equipment and accessories required for the day
- Perform daily walk-around of vehicle and logbook
- Possess 1 year experience in telecom construction preferable vault installation, ground level boxes installation, telecom pipe and conduit connection, pedestal installation and cable/fiber optic connection.
- possess 1 year experience driving mini excavators, excavators, or any motorized digging devices
- Have a compliant driving record
- Have a vehicle
- Valid WHMIS 2015
- Valid electrical safety and de-energization
- Valid first aid
