Job Description

Learn to Skate Instructor



Varsity Community Association is seeking Skate Instructors for our Learn to Skate program. The program is informal skate instruction hosted on our Outdoor Rink (weather permitting threshold tempurature -15 to +5 dgrees dependant on ice conditions) for six weeks on Saturdays, January 10 to February 14.

6 Classes

10:00 to 10:30am 3/4 years (parent aided) 10:35 to 11:05am 4/5 years (parent aided) 11:15am to 12:00pm 6 to 9 years
General work time is 9:45am to 12:15pm (2.5 hours per week)

Qualifications:



Experience teaching 'learn to skate' basics to children and youth (ages 3-12).

Preferred certifications: CanSkate, Power Skate, NCCP, Hockey Canada Coaching, Ringette Canada Coaching. (Figure Skating, Hockey or Ringette experince considered in lieu of cerification). Demonstrated experience in program delivery. Current Standard First Aid and Level C CPR certification. Criminal/Vulnerable Sector background check for all new hires 18 years and older. A previous check will be accepted provided it is dated within the past 6 months.

Friendly, enthusiastic, and passionate about teaching. Strong customer service orientation. Punctual, reliable, and professional. Enjoys working with kids. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Highly organized with strong attention to detail.

Performance Responsibilities:



Provide Safe and Fun Instruction along with Supervision and Safety.

Lesson Plan Delivery: We have an exiting plan but instructors are welcome to develop lesson plans that cater to various skill levels and age groups. Use a variety of teaching methods (verbal, non-verbal, and modeling) to communicate effectively.

Encourage maximum participation through positive reinforcement. Maintain a fun and professional demeanor.

Customer Service: Deliver excellent customer service and address any concerns promptly. Build positive relationships with participants and their families.

Team Collaboration:Work cooperatively with other instructors.

Ensure equipment any euipment use is cared for and returned for the following session.

Wage:

$15-$22 (starting rated based on experince/part-time hourly)

Pay: $15.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 2.5 per week
