You have a strong desire to help people and to provide a positive, memorable and safe experience for all participants while leading them through both their on-ice and off-ice activities. You lead and deliver all on-ice lesson plans and off-ice activities for the duration of the programs as well as group supervision, behavioural management, and coaching.

What you will be doing:

Provide leadership, supervision and instruction to participants both on and off the ice focusing on fundamental skill development at all levels of hockey, power skating and learn to skate Facilitate activities such as Ice Luge, human curling and human slingshot bowling for corporate and team building events Provide group supervision and behavioural management to ensure the safety of participants during all aspects of their program Carry out non-teaching duties that relate to the programs: first day check-in, rental assistance, ice set-up, ice take-down, and customer assistance Maintain accurate class progress cards - ensure that progress cards are filled out and delivered with encouragement to take the next step of lesson development Work as part of a team with other Skate & Hockey School staff including managers, team leads, instructors, volunteers, arena staff and other WinSport team members Effectively communicate with participants and parents Provide daily leadership and direction to volunteers Represent yourself and WinSport in the best way possible while upholding the organization's vision, mission and values Attend scheduled training sessions to ensure current product delivery Always demonstrate a safe work practice by adhering to all WinSport safety policy and procedures and ensuring one's own safety is preserved along with the safety of co-workers, direct reports and WinSport guests Other duties as assigned.

What you bring:

Experience in ice sports (Hockey, Ringette, Figure Skating, and Speed Skating) required Ability to lead and provide programming for adults of all skill levels Availability during the day on weekdays, evenings, and weekends Current Standard First Aid/CPR Certification is considered an asset NCCP Certifications with Hockey Canada, Skate Canada, Ringette Canada and Speed Skate Canada are considered an asset Multisport NCCP Certifications are considered an asset Completed or working towards the completion of a post-secondary education in Education, Physical Education, Kinesiology, Sport Administration or related program is considered an asset Experience coaching participants of all ages Experience working with youth in a sport setting Experience coaching other sports is considered an asset A passion for sport, in particular skating
