Position Purpose

The Shell team is seeking a Site Supply Chain Lead to support the Energy and Chemicals Park projects within the Sarnia Refinery. This role will start as an individual contributor directly executing project Supply Chain deliverables but may later include accountability for supervision of 1-2 direct reports, depending on future project sizes or business needs.

This role includes, but is not limited to, front-end project development and contracting strategy execution, as well as Commercial support to the relevant Business Opportunity Managers and Project Managers. This role will also be responsible for effectively managing performance with the Engineering & Procurement ("EPaEUR) provider(s) and is the key interface between the Supply Chain organization including global Projects and Technology, Supply Chain, and the Asset Project team.

The Supply Chain Commercial Specialist is a member of the Sarnia Supply Chain Team and is responsible for managing the execution of the complete Category Management & Contracting Process ("CMCPaEUR) as it applies to the Opportunity Realization Standards ("ORSaEUR). This includes aligning with business drivers, Assessing Demand & Supply, External Market Analysis, Contract Strategy/Tactics Development & Execution, Contract Management activities for the Sarnia Projects Portfolio.

Activities for the role are as follows:

  • Accountable for managing Internal stakeholders in development and execution of contract strategies/tactics driving towards value maximization through the Pre-award Phase
  • Collaborate with Internal & External Suppliers to ensure delivery of maximum value via each of the awarded contract/commercial deal through the Post-award Phase
  • Develop commercially competitive project sourcing strategies and tactics that meet the unique Chemicals & Products Business Demand while considering potential implementation of Global Strategies at local and regional levels
  • Conduct tenders, evaluate bids & drive negotiations with Suppliers in accordance with Supply Chain and Projects expected Practices and outcomes
  • Ensure delivery & effectively manage contracts while continuously drive value improvement targets
  • Effectively manage contract claims and variations to achieve the best commercial outcome for the project team
  • Identify, develop & implement supply chain improvement opportunities
  • Ensure the Contract Strategies and Contract Management Plans support Goal Zero through implementation of robust Contractor Safety Management practices, and alignment to ShellaEUR(TM)s personal and process safety Goal Zero focus areas
  • Implementation of Contractor HSSE practices in close liaison with Contract Managers/Holders and Owners
  • Proactively identify & understand commercial/procurement needs from internal stakeholders and collaboratively propose competitive solutions
  • Develop and maintain strong alignment with P&T and Supply Chain teams to enable good collaboration, alignment and ability to leverage strategies across the portfolio (i.e. other Energy & Chemicals parks within North America)
  • Bring external market/supplier views and benchmarks into conversation and provide commercial challenge and guidance in the project
  • Manage Supplier Relationship effectively and collaboratively drive continuous performance improvement via relevant contract key metrics (Eg: HSSE, Operations, Cost)
  • Ensure strong connect across the wider Supply Chain Organization to ensure continuous cross sharing, leverage of best practices, and provide a single point of accountability to the Scotford business and projects team
  • Demonstrate collaborative behaviors and integrates within Supply Chain and Global Category Team and Supplier Managers
Skills & Requirements

What we need from you -
  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • BacheloraEUR(TM)s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or another relevant field
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in Supply Chain, gained through Asset Operations or Projects contracting and procurement roles
  • Experience in Capital Projects procurement and EPC supplier/contracting models and relationships
  • Experience in contract negotiations & tender evaluation
  • Able to influence stakeholders (Business, Supply Chain, Suppliers) to work together in an integrated way
  • Able to perform contract management (including post contract process steps)
  • Continuous improvement and simplification mindset
