Site Supervisor

Edmonton, AB, CA, Canada

Job Description

About Modworks

At

Modworks Inc.

, we're redefining what's possible in

backyard housing

.
We design and build

modern, small-scale homes

-- garden suites, laneway houses, and accessory dwelling units (ADUs) -- crafted with precision, creativity, and respect for both people and place.

Every project is guided by Modworks' four pillars:

Scope. Budget. Timeline. Client Satisfaction.

Our builds are compact but complex -- tucked into existing neighbourhoods, often with limited access and unique constraints. That's why we rely on strong systems, clear communication, and exceptional people to keep things running smoothly.

About the Role

We're looking for a

Site Supervisor

who combines

technical experience, emotional intelligence, and strong organizational habits

to manage the day-to-day construction of Modworks' backyard homes.

This isn't a traditional, rough-edged site management job -- it requires

professionalism, empathy, and a personal touch.

Our projects are built just steps away from our clients' homes, in their backyards. That means every interaction, every conversation, and every site visit matters. You're not only managing trades and materials -- you're representing Modworks' commitment to

exceptional service

, maintaining trust and respect while working on a homeowner's private property.

You'll coordinate multiple backyard housing projects -- each with its own unique access, constraints, and neighborhood context -- ensuring that construction runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently. You'll lead with communication, not confrontation; systems, not chaos; and care, not shortcuts.

You'll be the eyes, ears, and steady hand of Modworks on site -- translating our commitment to

creativity, efficiency, sustainability, and accuracy

into daily execution.

What You'll Do

Oversee daily site operations

across multiple small-scale residential projects (backyard homes, garden suites, and laneway houses).

Manage and coordinate subcontractors and suppliers

to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and to specification.

Maintain site organization, safety, and cleanliness

, ensuring every Modworks site reflects professionalism and order.

Provide regular informal updates to homeowners

during site visits, maintaining trust and transparency throughout construction.

Deliver structured, semi-monthly progress updates

to the Modworks leadership team and clients, including photos, schedule updates, and key milestones.

Use systems and checklists

within the ClickUp platform to document progress, track issues, and communicate with the office team.

Monitor scope, budget, and schedule

on each project, identifying potential risks early and recommending proactive solutions.

Uphold Modworks' four pillars

in all decision-making:
Scope: Work within the defined plan, avoid surprises.

Budget: Respect cost boundaries and report deviations early.

Timeline: Maintain predictable schedules and progress reporting.

Client Satisfaction: Build trust through professionalism, empathy, and consistent communication.

Champion site safety and accountability

among all trades and workers.

Who You Are

You thrive in a dynamic, small-business environment where your decisions have immediate impact. You're calm under pressure, articulate in your communication, and motivated by structure and quality.

You believe a well-run site starts with systems -- not firefighting. You value clean construction sites, transparent updates, and well-documented progress. And you understand that a homeowner's backyard is also their sanctuary -- deserving of respect and care during construction.

You are:

Highly organized and self-managed, with a bias toward action and follow-through. Tech-comfortable and fluent with digital tools (ClickUp or similar). Experienced in coordinating multiple trades and suppliers. Skilled at communicating with clients and teammates clearly and professionally. Empathetic, patient, and confident in managing client expectations. Experienced in small-scale or infill construction (experience with backyard suites or ADUs is a strong asset).

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in residential construction, ideally with

small infill projects.

Proven ability to manage multiple sites and coordinate subcontractors independently. Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills. Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle (reimbursed per CRA standard). WHMIS and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain).

Why Join Modworks

Purpose-driven work:

Help create sustainable, space-efficient housing that adds value to communities.

Autonomy with accountability:

Lead your sites within a framework that values transparency and trust.

Collaborative culture:

A modern, respectful workplace built on systems, not chaos.

Growth opportunity:

As Modworks expands, this role can evolve into senior field management or operational leadership.

Innovation mindset:

We use technology and design to simplify complexity -- and we expect our team to do the same.

How to Apply

If you're passionate about small-scale construction and believe in structured, client-centered project delivery, we'd love to meet you. Please submit your resume

and a short note

describing how you've used systems or communication practices to keep multiple job sites running smoothly.
