Penalta is seeking a hands-on, dependable

Assistant Site Superintendent

to join our team for a high-impact retrofit project in downtown Toronto. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a 21-storey renovation within a

live residential building

with vulnerable tenants--primarily seniors, including individuals with cognitive impairments.

The ideal candidate brings

residential retrofit

or

operational site experience

, thrives in high-traffic environments, and demonstrates care, calmness, and professionalism when coordinating work around occupants.

What You'll Do:

Support daily site operations under the Senior Site Superintendent. Conduct safety inspections and enforce OHSA compliance on an active, tenant-occupied site. Help coordinate subcontractors, deliveries, and daily construction activities. Ensure clear and respectful communication with building management and residents. Track daily progress, prepare reports, and support site documentation in

Procore

. Assist with quality assurance, deficiency management, and workflow planning. Maintain site cleanliness, safety, and smooth logistics across trades.

What We're Looking For:

2+ years in construction supervision or site coordination, ideally in

residential or retrofit projects

. Experience working in

operational environments

(e.g., hospitals, malls, occupied buildings) is a strong asset. Comfortable working in

sensitive tenant environments

with empathy and professionalism. Familiarity with

Procore

preferred; willingness to learn required. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multiple trades on-site. Organized, reliable, and committed to contributing to a safe and respectful jobsite.
