Job Duties


The Simulation Coordinator position incorporates new technological advancements and innovations in healthcare, with a focus on enhancing the quality and effectiveness of simulation learning experiences.

Simulation Production and Delivery

Ensuring simulation equipment is regularly updated, properly maintained, and in optimal working condition to meet learner needs. Collaborating with programs to review lab setups, ensuring all requirements are met and providing guidance on the proper operation of requested equipment. Coordinating the acquisition, storage, setup, and distribution of supplies to support simulation activities. Maintaining accurate records for technical equipment and simulation scenarios. Ensuring sufficient inventory levels are consistently maintained to meet program needs.
Safeguarding the security of all Simulation Centre Labs, ensuring a safe and controlled environment.


Laboratory Operation

Developing and implementing efficient methods for delivering equipment and supplies to meet Simulation Centre needs. Leading, planning, and organizing tasks to ensure smooth operations. Contacting vendors to obtain quotes and manage the efficient procurement of supplies. Overseeing the inventory of consumable supplies, durable goods, and assets, ensuring accurate records through the inventory management system. Collaborating with Simulation Assistants and Technicians to coordinate asset maintenance and repairs, ensuring optimal performance of simulation equipment. Researching and evaluating new technologies to continuously enhance the simulation lab experience for learners.

Simulation Centre Development

Collaborating provincially as needed, including occasional travel, to support the development and enhancement of simulation centres across campuses and within brokered college programs. Contributing expert knowledge on technical requirements to assist in the development and optimization of simulation resources at all campuses. Providing orientation, mentorship, coaching, and guidance to Simulation Centre staff and users to ensure consistent best practices and operational excellence. Facilitating the lending of equipment and surplus supplies to other campuses within Saskatchewan and across provinces as necessary. Managing the sharing and transferring of assets between programs and, when needed, between campuses to ensure optimal resource utilization.
Assisting in planning and implementing key Simulation Centre initiatives, including campus relocations, lab expansions, and maintaining the inventory management system.


Communications, Collaborations and Interactions

Fostering positive, collaborative relationships with Simulation Centre users to ensure a productive and efficient working environment. Reporting to the Program Head on strategies for improving operational efficiencies and enhancing processes within the Simulation Centre. Building and maintaining strong relationships with external service providers and vendors to ensure timely and effective service delivery. Developing and implementing standardized processes and procedures (in collaboration with the program head) to administer the day-to-day operations of the Simulation Centre across the province. Preparing cost breakdowns for chargeback, ensuring accurate and transparent financial reporting. Collaborating with Simulation Centre staff to conduct regular inventory counts, manage assets, address specific lab requests, and oversee equipment maintenance and repairs.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)


1. Degree or diploma in nursing; and/or certificate or diploma in paramedicine; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

2. A minimum of two years of experience working in an acute care clinical setting.

3. Strong understanding of medical terminology and current knowledge of procedures and consumable medical products used in healthcare and in simulation.

4. Training or experience at the Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

5. Highly analytical with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet the demands of laboratory exercises across multiple labs and campuses. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to establish workflow priorities, meet deadlines, and complete tasks with minimal supervision.

6. Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues across departments and campuses. Demonstrates respect for diversity and works inclusively with people from all equity groups.

7. Capable of lifting more than 30 lbs.

8. Ability to take initiative, work independently, and handle responsibilities with minimal supervision.

9. Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills, both oral and written.

10. Ability to work effectively with a large team within the Simulation Centre, Sask Polytech, and our external partners.

11. Understanding of hazardous substances, the transportation of dangerous goods, and biological waste management, including WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System).

12. Demonstrates valuing diversity.
