The Department
The Health Education Centre houses five programs including the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Practical Nurse Diploma Program, Health Care Aide Program, Emergency Medical Responder Program, and Primary Care Paramedic Program.
The Role
The Lab Coordinator is responsible for collaborating with and assisting instructors in preparing and scheduling lab activities. This position is responsible for coordinating, ordering, preparing, cleaning up, and maintaining lab supplies, materials, and equipment for programs offered through the Department. This position will manage and administer Health Education labs, maintain the inventory system, participate in and contribute to the lab upkeep, participate in, and contribute to a safe environment in the labs, work with simulation equipment, and other duties as assigned. This is a term-certain position with a current term length for the position to be twelve (12) months from the start date with the possibility of additional funding for a renewed term to be in place prior to term expiry date. Job Requirements
The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of education and 2 years of experience in a relevant health related field reflective of the programs delivered within the School of Health, i.e. Nursing, Practical Nurse, or Emergency Services. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted. Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:
proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
strong organizational and multi-tasking skills;
ability to problem solve and work creatively
ability to work independently and in a team
an entrepreneurial spirit, specifically one who is willing to take a risk to create opportunities;
