Marketing Board

The Board presently has a vacancy for the position of Silviculture Technical Lead. The Board oversees and administers the New Brunswick Private Woodlot Silviculture Program within Northumberland County. The geographic region consists ~ 380 000 acres and is comprised of ~ 3600 owners. Recent year`s programs have been conducted in over 2400 acres. NCFPMB is headquarterd in Miramichi, NB.

Title : Silviculture Technical Lead

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Demonstrated familiarity with the requirements to implement and supervise the counties Site Prep, Pre Commercial Thinning, Vegetation Management, Commercial Thin, and Alternative Harvest Programs.

Perform the technical pre and post assessments as defined in the New Brunswick Private Woodlot Silviculture Manual to develop / implement NCFPMB `s silviculture program.

Demonstrate a working knowledge of GPS area measurement and GIS mapping Systems.

Demonstrate a working Knowledge of the Federal and Provincial regulations that pertain to forestry operations in New Brunswick.

Provide Extension services to land owners as well as the public regarding the Forest Management Programs available through the Marketing Board.

Collaborate and assist other staff , employees of other boards, Industry, Government, and community members as required on projects that pertain to Forest Management.

Liaise with DNR & E officials on matters that pertain to the implementation of the boards Silviculture Program and Forest Management activities.

Promote & Practice BMP`s as defined in the practical Guide to Best Management Practices in New Brunswick Woodlots. (2nd edition)

Graduate of a recognized degree or technical forestry institution and be registered or eligible for registration in the ARPFNB or NBFTA. 3 to 5 years previous related work history preferred.

Must be able to withstand the rigors of field work, willing to work in adverse terrain and climate conditions, be able to lift 40 lbs, possess a Class 5 driver`s license, willingness to operate their own vehicle on mileage.

Remuneration commensurate with experience, complete benefit package available upon completion of a probation period.
