Our work blends design innovation with precision engineering to deliver durable, code-compliant signage solutions across commercial, retail, and construction sectors.

About the Role

We are seeking a Signage Technical Designer to support our production and engineering departments in preparing accurate technical drawings, shop drawings, and permit-ready documentation.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the mechanical and structural side of design--turning creative concepts into buildable, code-compliant, and production-ready signage systems.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Drafting:

Create precise shop drawings and detailed production files, ensuring all design intent, construction details, and installation methods are clearly represented.

Engineering Coordination:

Prepare and update drawings for engineering review, structural approval, and permit applications, ensuring compliance with municipal and building codes.

Fabrication Support:

Collaborate closely with fabrication and installation teams to design efficient construction methods and materials for both interior and exterior signage.

Design Translation:

Convert conceptual layouts into scaled, buildable designs -- bridging the gap between creative design and physical production.

Material and Structural Detailing:

Specify materials, finishes, and fastening systems suitable for various substrates, wall types, and environmental conditions.

File Preparation:

Prepare accurate production and print files for CNC routing, vinyl cutting, and digital printing (experience with Onyx, EnRoute, or FlexiSign considered an asset).

Documentation & Standards:

Maintain organized technical libraries of standard construction details, section views, and materials for use in permits and shop production.

Cross-Team Collaboration:

Work closely with Sales, Project Management, and Production to ensure all design outputs are practical, cost-effective, and achievable in fabrication.

Qualifications

Experience:

Minimum 2 years in signage, architectural drafting, or a related manufacturing environment.

Education:

Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Industrial Design, Engineering Design, or related field preferred.

Software Skills:

CorelDRAW and/or Adobe Illustrator (required) EnRoute, Omega, or FlexiSign (asset) Onyx RIP software (asset)

Technical Knowledge:

Strong understanding of manufacturing drawings, fabrication methods, and installation practices. Familiarity with structural and architectural drawings. Understanding of lighting layouts, electrical components, and mechanical fastening systems is an asset.

Soft Skills:

Excellent spatial awareness and problem-solving ability. Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple projects. Collaborative and communicative -- able to bridge design and production teams effectively.
