MAKING AN IMPACT




Reporting to the Manager of Relay For Life Youth (RFLY), Signature Programs, the Relay For Life Youth Specialist will work as part of the national RFLY team to actively solicit new business opportunities with high schools to meet aggressive revenue targets for the Relay For Life Youth Program. Relay For Life is a fundraising event put on by students at their school to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society and support individuals in their community impacted by cancer. This role is responsible for revenue development, program support, and relationship management of current and new schools within the program. This role is a hybrid work model also requiring travel to high schools, for recruitment, committee meetings, Relay events and student leadership conferences from September to July. July and August are focused on program planning and development.

This role covers the Atlantic Canada region, and the applicant must live in Nova Scotia.



WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

:



Recruit new high schools to host Relay For Life events, and train and mentor existing schools to meet event goals. Present the program to potential schools focusing on student councils, leadership classes, cancer clubs, interested students, teachers, and/or administration. Manage and grow an established revenue portfolio of approximately $650,000. Support, train, provide guidance and motivate student organizing committees to meet participant and fundraising goals; attend committee meetings when necessary. Support resource and program development with ongoing projects throughout the year. Attend student leadership conferences, speaking to groups of students and teachers at the Relay For Life trade show booth and workshops to promote Relay For Life. Participate in planning, delivering content, and coordinating logistics for 'Relay University', our training conference for high school planning committees. Coach student committees to implement strategies on topics such as participant recruitment, fundraising, marketing and promotions, and sponsorship for their event. Liaise with internal CCS departments regarding the program. Adhere to all administration procedures as required. Work in compliance with the provisions of The Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations and comply with CCS' Health & Safety Policy. QUALIFICATIONS:



Related post-secondary education, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. At least 1-2 years of customer service, fundraising, and/or sales experience. Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills; including the ability to negotiate and influence others. Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills. Confident and passionate public speaker who is comfortable presenting to both small and large groups. Experience with Instagram and Canva is considered an asset. Occasional travel across Canada occurs for internal meetings, conferences, and event visits. All necessary travel expenses are covered by the Canadian Cancer Society. Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required. Proficiency in Microsoft tools including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint Bilingualism (French/English) is highly preferred, with French being an asset due to the organization's nationwide operations and the need for effective communication across various regions Knowledge and/or involvement in the Relay For Life Youth program is an asset.
