Job Description

Position Scope:


Under the direction of the Executive Director and in collaboration with a committee of the Board of Directors, the Project Coordinator will oversee the coordination and planning of the new SHYFT Shelter.

Overview of Key Responsibilities:


The Project Coordinator will be responsible for:

Developing a comprehensive business case for the construction of a new shelter. This includes, but is not limited to, construction costs, design plans, staffing needs, funding opportunities, and projections for ongoing operational expenses. Ensuring all foundational work is completed to support the successful development of the new shelter. Finalizing and formalizing an agreement with an architectural firm. Collaborating with the architectural firm to create a space plan, engineering report, site assessment, and construction budget. Coordinating with qualified professionals to conduct a property survey and environmental assessment of the proposed site. Liaising with the Town of Yarmouth to address zoning requirements and other necessary municipal approvals. Engaging professionals to design energy-efficient construction plans. Preparing project proposals and completing grant applications to secure funding for the new shelter construction.

Credentials and Education:



A bachelor's degree in business, community development, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 3-5 years of experience in project management, particularly in projects involving new construction. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in strategic planning, group facilitation, and policy development. Demonstrated experience in grant writing and securing funding for capital or community-based projects. Proven ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders, coordinate information sharing, and meet critical deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
