We are looking for a Shutdown & Long-term Maintenance Planner to create and manage the site master schedule and provide planning and coordination support for all major outages across our modernized Aluminum Smelter and Power Operation in Kitimat, BC. With a global reach, the opportunities to develop and grow your career are broad and exciting. Reporting to the Planning Team Lead, and working a Monday to Friday schedule you will be:
  • Working safely in accordance with Rio Tinto safety standards and promoting our zero-harm culture
  • Improve productivity of people, equipment, and work quality by eliminating potential delays and obstacles to efficient work execution.
  • Develop maintenance long term strategy which is practical with the capacity and asset needs identified, with accurate estimates and all necessary information.
  • Ensure safety needs are given a top priority in work planning.
  • Provide KPI data showing maintenance performance to various departments.
  • Recommend system and design changes to improve the processes.
  • Lead follow-up meetings to capture learnings from the workforce to capture improvements in plant and procedures.
  • Apply Shutdown Management best practices.
  • Track long lead time parts orders
What you’ll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Journeyperson Trade designation or Mechanical/Electrical Engineer degree or Technologist diploma (electrical preferred)
  • At least 5 years of Maintenance Planning experience in an industrial setting
  • Experience and proficiency using SAP CMMS system
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • An understanding of Maintenance Work Management processes
  • At least a valid Class 7 Driver’s License
It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma qualification
  • Microsoft Projects
