Key responsibilities

  • Maintains a daily movement log and PM inspections sheets for team
  • Places a trailer stand under all 20 foot equipment to be worked at the dock
  • Ensure that yard and related yard equipment is clean, orderly and in safe operating condition; inspects all empty equipment for cleanliness and for any damage; reporting any damages to supervisor
  • Ensures that all loads are properly secured
  • Maintains safety rules at all times
  • Ensures all equipment doors are properly secured to the side of the equipment prior to movement
  • Assist in monitoring FIFO (First in, First out) equipment in yard and report discrepancies to immediate supervisor
  • Assist 3rd party carriers re-position equipment as necessary
  • Ability to lift material weighing 40 pounds, occasionally weighing up to 75 pounds
  • Performs job related duties as specified by management

We are looking for
  • Must have a valid Class 1 License, and previous shunt experience is preferred
  • Successfully pass a yard truck operator evaluation
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; not required
  • Minimum one year driving experience and a clean drivers abstract
  • Able to speak, read and write English
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform well with time-sensitive tasks; multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
