Job Description

Are you a culinary enthusiast with a passion for delivering delicious and quick meals to hungry customers? If so, we're looking for a Short Order Cook to join our team. As a Short Order Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of fast, made-to-order dishes, ensuring quality, speed, and customer satisfaction in our member bar here at the Vancouver Rowing Club. Shifts in our member bar are Tuesday to Fridays 3pm-9:30pm and noon to 9pm on weekends; we're looking to fill two to three shifts per week.

Key Responsibilities:



Food Preparation:

Prepare a wide range of menu items, including burgers, sandwiches, salads, tacos and other pub style dishes, following established recipes and guidelines.

Cooking:

Use of a TurboChef quick cook oven and Rational oven, performing other cooking techniques with precision and speed to meet customer orders promptly.

Quality Control:

Ensure that all food items are cooked to perfection and meet our quality standards, paying close attention to temperature, appearance, and taste.

Order Management:

Receive and prioritize customer orders, coordinating with other F&B staff to ensure efficient and accurate order delivery.

Cleanliness and Sanitation:

Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards at all times. Clean kitchen equipment and utensils as needed.

Inventory Management:

Monitor and restock food supplies as necessary, keeping track of inventory levels to avoid shortages.

Customer Service:

Interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner, addressing their special requests or dietary restrictions when necessary.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with other food & beverage staff, including bartenders and managers, to ensure a smooth flow of orders and maintain a positive team atmosphere.

Adherence to Policies:

Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.

Qualifications:



Proven experience as a Short Order Cook or in a similar role within a fast-paced kitchen environment. Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment. Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet customer demand during busy periods. Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Food safety certification required. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:



Ability to stand for extended periods. Lifting, bending, and reaching to handle kitchen equipment and supplies. Tolerance for a hot and fast-paced kitchen environment.
Evening and weekend availability required.
