About the Role
We are seeking a Shop Technician (Resell Technician) for a part-time contract role of up to 6 months. This position offers flexible hours (daytime, evenings, weekends) and may scale up to 40 hours per week depending on workload and the successful candidate's availability.
The Shop Technician will focus on testing, valuing, and coordinating the resale of surplus communication and technology equipment. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who is tech-savvy, detail-oriented, and comfortable with both shop work and customer-facing sales.
Key Responsibilities
Test, evaluate, and verify the condition of communication and technology equipment
Research and determine fair market value for resale items
Create accurate listings and descriptions for resale across multiple platforms (online, in-person, auction houses, and industry contacts)
Photograph, catalog, and track inventory of resale items
Coordinate logistics for equipment sales, including inquiries, pickups, and shipping
Administer sales of items directly, including in-person transactions and delivery within Edmonton when required
Maintain detailed records of sales, pricing, and inventory movement
Assist with general shop duties to keep staging areas organized and equipment ready
Qualifications
Tech-savvy with experience working with communication or electronic equipment preferred (testing, refurbishing, or resale)
Strong research skills to determine resale values based on current market trends
Comfortable with resale platforms such as Kijiji, Facebook Marketplace, auction houses, or specialized industry channels
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for customer interaction and online listings
Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, perform frequent bending, and safely handle equipment
Customer-service mindset when coordinating sales and deliveries
Valid driver's license required for occasional in-town delivery of equipment
Flexible availability for daytime, evening, and weekend hours
