Job Description

Job Summary:The shop labourer plays a critical role in our operation. The employee is responsible for organizing and managing the cage and shop supplies. They contact vendors and get quotes for submission to the shop supervisor. As shop support, this person makes hydraulic hoses as well as documents and provides kit packages to shop tradespersons. The shop labourer is required to maintain an active driver's license as the role also involves running errands in and around the local area including but not limited to picking up required parts.Position Responsibilities:

• Arrive at work in a timely manner, fit for duty.
• Comply with all shop safety requirements.
• Ensure environmental and safety integrity of the cage.
• Monitor shop tools usage and placement.
• Organize and manage cage and shop supplies.
• Enforce cage rules.
• Contact vendors to get quotes for suppliers.
• Research and source supplies from different suppliers.
• Operate forklift to move supplies from the warehouse to the shop.
• Drive around the city to pick up and deliver parts.
• Assist with various duties (as required) to be coordinated by Shop Supervisor

Position Qualifications:

• Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to perform all job-related tasks.
• Class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.
• General First Aid Certificate.

This position is safety sensitive and will require the candidate to undergo drug and alcohol testing as a pre-employment requirement as well as adherence to the Boart Longyear Fitness for Duty program.Job Type: Full-timeSchedule:

• 10 hour shift
• 8 hour shift

Experience:

• Shipping & receiving/warehouse: 2 years (required)
• Shop labor/Parts Runner or relate: 2 years (preferred)
• Forklift Operation: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

• Class 5 driver's license (preferred)
• First Aid Certification (preferred)
