PBN is currently looking to hire an Experienced Steel Manufacturing, Construction, and General Contracting Estimator/shop supervisor to work in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories to help improve overall company operations of a diverse business that specializes in metals manufacturing/construction, mining services of all trades and retail industrial sales.
Working only under the company CEO and the ideal candidate should have a positive attitude with a strong work ethic, be able to take charge and lead the company strategically, is hardworking and be willing to work as many hours as it takes, gets along well with others and is willing to be flexible with last minute or emergency client requests by meeting tight deadlines with the overall team.
Hours are based on no maximum number of hours per week with the manufacturing facility open from Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm in Yellowknife and the business operation on mine sites 365 days/year; however, typically this job will continually require some extent of attention and reflects on how well the Fabricator manages his/her time. This is a Supervisor/Estimator position. The Supervisor/Estimator is responsible for managing all phases of a project from initial inquiry to project closeout and warranty. This individual will manage a team of employees and responsibility for all phases of production, maintain a culture of zero harm and safety awareness, foster an engaged workforce and drive on-time delivery as just a few of their responsibilities. The Supervisor/Estimator is responsible to provide accurate, detailed information and timely project estimates for our large custom steel fabrication projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
SUPERVISOR
Overseeing all phases of the project, from shop drawing review to closeout
Manage a diverse workforce of shop tradespeople
Clear communication and documentation with the project team
Lead set up and changeover activity on machinery
Support and monitor production activity to ensure operators are following standard work instructions and are meeting quality specifications
Audit compliance with standard work instructions and process control plans to ensure production of good parts.
Develop accurate cost estimates for multiple scopes of work
Monitor production activity to ensure it is aligned with customer demand and corporate inventory goals.
Champion the area's safety program and coordinate statutory training and compliance.
Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care
Ensure operational activities and management of equipment and materials are executed in a manner consistent with good stewardship
Execute all responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards as established by company policies and procedures

ESTIMATING EXPERIENCE
Working Shop Supervisor on Various Shop Projects
Experience in Operator of Manual Brake, Shear, Saw, and an asset for CNC Plasma, Brake, Shear, Saw Operations to assist crews for troubleshooting and offering solutions
Estimating for labour and/or material costs for small shop jobs to large Fabrication Projects
Inspection for various Construction projects (Foundation, Pre-Fab Steel Buildings, and Project Management/coordinating pricing from Sub-Contractors)
Inventory control & Material Processing for Projects Awarded
Preparation and planning for projects awarded
Co-ordination with shop fabrication and erection schedule
CAD Experience an asset, primary use for CNC Plasma Cutting
A minimum of 10 years' experience fabricating along with 5 to 10 years estimation experience
Experience preparing quotes in construction, general contracting, and steel manufacturing industries
Ability to read blue prints, drawings and specifications for materials
Familiar with the following standards ASME, CWB, ULC, API and ISO and/or COR.
Exceptional attention to detail and Quality Control Management
Strong leadership and negotiation skills
Mechanical aptitude, problem-solving, and creativity
Experience leading a weld shop is an advantage
Time management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Ability to handle stressful situations such as heavy/varying workload and order accuracy.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Industry relevant production experience
Trades Certification as a Journeyman Fabricator/Welder
Journeyman Millwright or Mechanic an Asset to work with various machines and troubleshoot
CWB Certification a Requirement, SMAW, MCAW/FCAW, GMAW - All positions - All positions
