Position Summary
Universal Ford Lincoln is seeking a
Shop Foreman
to lead day-to-day operations in our Service Center. You'll dispatch work, mentor technicians, uphold safety and quality standards, and keep throughput high--while being the
hands-on technical expert
our team relies on. The
Shop Foreman
will work with and assist the Service Manager to ensure the shop is running in a way that provides exceptional safety and outstanding customer service. The
Shop Foreman
will provide front-shop customer advice and assistance when needed and must have very good communication and phone skills. The role includes training, coaching, leading others, and working to grow the business by developing your team.
What You'll Do
Lead and dispatch repair orders to match technician skill sets and bay availability; remove bottlenecks to hit daily production targets.
Coach and mentor techs and apprentices; provide on-the-spot diagnostics guidance and quality checks before delivery.
Own shop standards: safety, cleanliness, tool control, and compliance with OEM procedures (Ford/Lincoln TSBs, warranty policies).
Elevate quality: perform final road tests/QA, verify labor operations, and ensure complete/accurate story-writing on ROs.
Collaborate with Advisors and the Service Manager on workload planning, parts ETAs, and customer communication.
Track metrics (efficiency, comeback rate, cycle time) and share weekly insights and actions.
What You'll Bring
Red Seal Certification - Automotive Service Technician (required).
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record (required).
Previous leadership experience as a working foreman, team lead, or senior technician.
Advanced diagnostics and drivability skills; ability to triage complex electrical and module-programming concerns.
Strong communication, organization, and a customer-first mindset.
Bonus: experience with Ford/Lincoln service systems (FDRS, IDS), warranty labor ops, and modern DMS platforms.
