Overview



The supervisor is responsible for managing daily operations of maintenance activities, the productivity of technicians assigned to maintenance tasks, and ensuring that all maintenance tasks are effectively distributed amongst technicians and completed. The supervisor is accountable for managing technician productivity, coordinating resources, and facilitating communication to maintain efficiency. The supervisor will also monitor work quality, manage downtime, and support the development of technicians through training and coaching.

Responsibilities



Oversee technicians and ensure framework for task assignment is appropriate by level of expertise

Allocate work across technicians to balance workload

Oversee trailer triage activities and the execution of running repairs

Order shunts upon work completion to ensure timely arrival of new trailers

Approve commencement of repair work

Close completed work orders

Facilitate pre-shift meetings to communicate priorities and key updates

Proactively manage break schedules to optimize productive time

Respond to ad-hoc requests for information from the Operations, Call Centre, Sales teams (i.e., on trailer status, estimated completion time, issues identified, etc.)

Ensure productivity and engagement of technicians

Monitor and track daily trailer throughput

Measure and track time spent on each work order and ensure compliance to work order effort estimate

Provide coaching and training to support skill development of technicians

Develop and administer performance management plans for "at risk" technicians

Monitor work being performed to address quality or compliance concerns

Enforce adherence to workplace policies, safety guidelines, and maintenance best practices

Ensure the cleanliness of the workplace and organization of parts, tools, and equipment

Identify and implement opportunities to enhance the efficiency of the shop floor (e.g., to reduce idle time, motion waste, and overprocessing)

Requirements



Post Secondary Education is required

Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a relevant field

Experience working with achieving goals, KPIs, and meeting targets

Licensed 310J or 310T is preferred

Strong technical knowledge in maintenance procedures, troubleshooting, and repair techniques.

Prior experience in trailer maintenance or a similar field is highly preferred.

Strong ability to lead and motivate a team, manage productivity, and ensure tasks are completed efficiently and on time.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address challenges, improve workflows, and resolve maintenance issues.

Ability to prioritize tasks effectively, manage schedules, and allocate resources to meet deadlines.

Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment or materials up to 50 lbs.

Ability to stand or walk for extended periods during shifts.
