Job Summary

The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor oversees all daily inbound and outbound material flow, ensures accurate and timely loading/unloading, and leads the shipping/receiving team within our galvanizing facility. This role works closely with production, quality, maintenance, and customer service to ensure efficient plant operations and excellent customer experience.

Responsibilities

Supervise daily shipping, receiving, and yard operations in a galvanizing environment Coordinate incoming steel deliveries; verify tags, quantities, and work orders Ensure proper staging and material flow to support galvanizing production Plan and organize outbound shipments to meet customer deadlines Verify finished product accuracy, quality, and documentation (BOLs, tags, certificates) Train and lead employees in safe forklift, crane, and rigging practices Maintain accurate records, logs, and entries in ERP systems Communicate with carriers, customers, and internal departments Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, OSHA standards, and company policies Participate in hiring, performance evaluations, and coaching of logistics personnel Identify and implement improvements to workflow, yard layout, and efficiency

Qualifications

3+ years shipping/receiving or yard experience (steel, galvanizing, or industrial preferred) 1-3 years of supervisory or team-lead experience Strong knowledge of forklifts, overhead cranes, rigging, and steel-handling safety Experience with ERP/shipping systems and shipping documentation Ability to read and understand work orders, drawings, and customer specifications Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, heavy-industrial environment

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and maneuver steel parts and rigging equipment Able to work in hot, cold, and outdoor environments Frequent walking, bending, climbing, and operating industrial equipment
