Who Are You?
Reporting to the Operations Manager and General Foreman, the
Shipping & Receiving Supervisor
oversees and coordinates all shipping, receiving, and warehouse activities to ensure the efficient, accurate, and safe handling of materials and finished products. You are a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced warehouse environment, takes pride in teamwork, problem-solving, and keeping operations organized and efficient.
What Will You Do?
Shipping & Receiving Operations
Oversee and coordinate all daily shipping and receiving functions to ensure timely and accurate order processing
Verify incoming and outgoing materials against work orders, packing slips, and purchase orders
Prepare shipping documents including bills of lading, packing slips, and customs/export paperwork
Arrange carrier pickups and deliveries, determining the most efficient shipping methods
Inspect incoming materials for damage or discrepancies and communicate issues promptly
Maintain shipping and receiving records and ensure all documentation is filed accurately
Supervise loading and unloading of trucks, ensuring safe handling and proper securing of goods
Inventory & Warehouse Management
Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels; conduct cycle counts and reconcile variances
Organize warehouse layout to optimize space utilization, material flow, and accessibility
Ensure all products are labeled, stored, and tracked correctly in inventory systems
Collaborate with production and procurement to meet material requirements and delivery schedules
Equipment & Tool Maintenance
Coordinate operation and maintenance schedules for forklifts, cranes, and other material-handling equipment
Ensure daily inspections are conducted and that all equipment remains in safe working condition
Report defective or unsafe equipment promptly and follow proper lockout/tagout procedures
Safety & Housekeeping
Follow company safety procedures including PPE, lockout/tagout, and safe lifting practices
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area
Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and hazard assessments
Customer Service & Communication
Provide professional, timely communication with internal teams and external customers
Resolve shipping or receiving discrepancies and ensure high levels of service satisfaction
Coordinate deliveries and pickups with logistics partners and company drivers
Leadership & Other Duties
Supervise, train, and mentor shipping/receiving team members to ensure high performance
Assign tasks and monitor workflow to maintain efficiency and productivity
Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
Perform other duties as assigned by the General Foreman or management team

Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum 3 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations
Minimum 1 year of supervisory or lead-hand experience
Forklift and crane/rigging experience
Strong understanding of shipping, receiving, and inventory control practices
Knowledge of workplace safety regulations and safe material-handling procedures
Proficiency with shipping documentation, bills of lading, and export/customs processes
Skilled in operating forklifts, cranes, and other material-handling equipment
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Computer literacy with MS Office and inventory management systems
Physically fit to handle materials and lift up to 50 lbs
Safety-conscious, reliable, and detail-oriented
Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and strong work ethic
Excellent safety record and commitment to continuous improvement
Preferred:
Post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field
Experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environment
Familiarity with ERP or warehouse management systems
Overhead crane and forklift certificates
Knowledge of 5S and Lean principles
Six Sigma certification (asset)
