About the Role
Provisions Food Company is a proudly Canadian, premium CPG brand in the Niagara region, with growing distribution across national retailers. We specialize in premium pantry products that elevate everyday entertaining.
We're seeking a reliable, organized, and motivated individual to join our team as
Shipping & Logistics Lead
on a 13-month maternity leave contract. This role is essential to the smooth flow of our outbound and inbound shipments and plays a hands-on role in supporting our operations and production teams.
While this is a contract position, it's also a chance to gain valuable experience with a fast-growing Canadian food brand at a pivotal stage of scale. There is potential for the role to become permanent. You'll be part of a nimble, supportive team where attention to detail and initiative truly matter.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate all outgoing shipments, ensuring timely deliveries and proper documentation.
Oversee inventory management related to shipping processes, ensuring accurate stock levels and proper storage (notify team when a reorder is required).
Communicate with carriers, suppliers, and internal teams to arrange shipments, handle delays, and resolve issues.
Monitor and optimize logistics processes to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations, safety protocols, and company policies.
Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise in the shipping or logistics process, including damaged goods, delayed shipments, or inventory discrepancies.
Receive orders from online platforms and input orders onto the Order Log.
Print and review packing slips to determine optimal grouping of items for balanced weight distribution, then prepare and book shipments accordingly.
Meet couriers (Canpar, UPS, FedEx, etc.) at the loading dock to hand off outgoing shipments.
Receive incoming deliveries at the dock (e.g., glass, raw materials, supplies).
Complete finished inventory monthly + update the Order Log accordingly.
Plan and carry out scheduled delivery and pickup routes across the GTA.
Support in production as required.

What We're Looking For Technical Experience & Qualifications
Previous experience in
shipping/logistics
, ideally within food, beverage, or consumer packaged goods (CPG)
Experience navigating
retail routing guides, compliance, and shipping platforms
Tech-savvy; confident using systems to manage orders, inventory, and shipments
G2 license and comfort occasionally driving throughout the GTA for deliveries and pickups
Previous forklift or dock experience is an asset (but not required)
