Job Responsibilities:

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for the following:

Preparing shipping documents/documentation (work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials); Assisting with the daily shipping duties within the company; Preparing customs documents for shipments outside of the country; Negotiating the best rates and carrier selection for all outgoing shipping worldwide; Route determination; Providing rate quotation to support the Sales team; Communicating with transport companies to arrange pick-ups; Coordinating Less-Than-Truckload (LTL), Fuller-than-Truckload (FTL) and Truckload (TL) domestic and cross border shipments; Tracking and tracing of shipments; Ensuring carrier compliance; Obtaining Proof-of-Delivery (POD) as required; Ensuring all orders are submitted to the shipping department and processed as per the MRP report; Communicating with customers to advise of orders are ready for pick-up; Preparing the daily Ship-Log; Daily preparation and emailing of the on-time delivery report; Preparing the MRP report for production ensuring transportation companies used are clearly identified; Troubleshooting pricing issues with carriers; Checking invoices to confirm that the costs are accurate and in line with the original quotes; Auditing carrier invoices if there is a rate discrepancy; Providing excellent customer service for both internal and external customers; Interfacing with loaders and receivers; Filing damage claims; and Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:



Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office suite Must have strong professional business communication skills Must work effectively independently and with a team Must be capable of delivering results and positively impacting the company's financials Must have strong problem solving, mathematical skills, and troubleshooting capabilities; Must work in an organized manner with an ability to prioritize work and meet tight deadlines; Must have the ability to work in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment; Must possess a strong attention to detail; and Must have a positive 'can-do' attitude.

Minimum Qualifications:



Previous experience (approx. 1-2 years) in a clerical role preferably in a shipping environment; English language proficiency (read/write/speak); Diploma in a related discipline; and Demonstrated knowledge of principles and methods for moving goods by air, sea, and road; including relative costs and benefits
