A successful Shipper and Receiver is analytical, well-organized and excels in communication. They must be comfortable with paperwork and information systems and have great knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures. The goal is to ensure that the shipping and receiving processes are running smoothly and effectively in a cost-effective manner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Use DBA Manufacturing system to track, check, prioritize and route orders
Safely operate the company truck for deliveries and pickups in all seasons.
Manage all important documents such as advanced shipping notices, pick slips, out-bound and in-bound bill of ladings etc.
Maintain a high level of accuracy in counting and confirming printed part numbers
Direct the flow of packages from preparation to shipment
Inspect labels, packing lists, MTRs, and certs or other features of completed orders
Collaborate with Production, Purchasing and other managers to optimize processes
Resolve issues regarding shipping and receiving orders
Report to Supervisor on activities and issues
Operate forklifts to load and unload materials/skids from flatbed and enclosed trailers
Enter/Create packing slips for completed orders as required
Ensure outgoing orders are packaged in a neat and tidy manner
Arrange for pick up of packages in accordance to customer requested freight companies.
Receive incoming goods, inspect for damage, and verify contents against purchase orders.
Prioritize shipments and receiving orders in relation to company and customer needs
Ensure Shipping department is well organized and clean on a daily basis
Use and maintain the On-Time Delivery Report, Shipping Log and Receiving Log at all times.
Assists in any other areas are directed by Supervisor and/or Management
QUALIFICATIONS:
At least 1-2 years of previous Shipper/Receiver experience in a Logistics or Warehouse environment.
Candidates with a Forklift Certification or previous experience is preferable.
Valid Class 5 Driver's license and a clean driver's abstract is required
Knowledge of logistical procedures in as asset
Experience in preparing manual or electronic Bill of Ladings
Computer knowledge using Microsoft Office (or more specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel)
Good understanding of budgeting and reporting
Experience in directing and evaluating subordinates
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
Must have good analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
High school Diploma or equivalent
Ability to work under heavy workloads and strict timeframes in a fast-paced environment
Ability to speak, write and read English is required.
