Overview


The Shift Manager oversees production and warehouse staff on the floor, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. This role manages day-to-day activities, supports the team, and helps resolve issues to keep production and logistics running smoothly. This role is responsible for managing schedules, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining compliance with quality, regulatory and food safety requirements. The Shift Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve operational targets and will provide leadership and guidance to the team.

Responsibilities



Direct and support production and warehouse resources (staff and temporary labour) during the shift, fostering teamwork and accountability. Lead and oversee shift operations to ensure production and logistics goals are met safely and efficiently. Monitor and ensure adherence to quality, food safety, regulatory and workplace safety standards. Drive continuous improvement in productivity, efficiency, and waste reduction. Report on performance metrics; address and escalate under-performance for improvement. Monitor production and warehouse to meet daily schedules and targets. Direct and enforce direct labour scheduling. Identify and troubleshoot issues, escalating as needed. Maintain clear and effective communication with other departments.

Supervisory Responsibilities



Directly supervises all employees on shift. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with MLI's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

Qualifications



Previous supervisory or management experience in food manufacturing or a related industry Strong understanding of food safety, HACCP, and GMP requirements. Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Hands-on, team-oriented approach Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates Commitment to excellence and high standards Excellent written and oral communication skills Basic competence in subordinates' duties and tasks Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills Ability to manage priorities and workflow Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions Flexible, and innovative team player
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $65,000.00-$100,000.00 per year

Education:

Bachelor's Degree (required)
Experience:

Food and/or Beverage Manufacturing: 5 years (required) direct supervision of manufacturing personnel: 5 years (required) SCADA / MES systems: 1 year (required)
