Position Title: Shift ManagerPosition Type: Regular - Full-Time \xe2\x80\x8bPosition Location: CarberryGrade: Grade 04Requisition ID: 30466The Carberry Shift Manager is responsible to organize, schedule, monitor, and audit production line activities to ensure conformance to established requirements regarding cost, quality, productivity, safety (both personnel and product), sanitation, and employee competence. Provide information and follow-up on overall product conditions (meeting or not meeting specifications, problem areas with equipment, specifications, packaging supplies, raw product challenges, pack and line schedule, etc.) to Supervisors and operators for optimum efficiency. Ensure uniform application and interpretation of established SOPs, specifications, shift-to-shift congruency, and assist with the coordination of employee training.Nature and Scope:

  • Works effectively with Field Department and shift supervisors to schedule/utilize raw product.
  • Works effectively with Quality Assurance Manager to ensure finished product meets quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Works effectively with Maintenance to ensure we maintain equipment efficiency and are proactive on preventative maintenance.
  • Works effectively with corporate pack planner to ensure packs are met and schedule is efficient for factory operation.
  • Manager will operate departments to ensure cost standards are met in all areas such as labor, line efficiencies, tag and rework, quality requirements, ingredient usage and supply standards, and bulk and held reduction.
Essential Functions:
  • Formulate plans and objectives for departmental operations.
  • Maintain high product quality that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
  • Ensure that adequate training in areas of management skills are provided for Shift Supervisors.
  • Direct and consult with Supervisors on all process attributes, including time and temperature for equipment set up, raw product blends for color, defects and solids, personnel staffing, equipment capability and line capacity.
  • Responsible for investigation and follow up of all quality complaints, possible product problems (including product safety), sanitation inspection problems, and cost variance problems.
  • Responsible for all preparation, distribution, follow up and problem investigation on factory and corporate reports.
  • Coordinate plant activities to obtain maximum efficiency for total facility.
  • Create an environment that encourages Safety in your department.
  • As a member of the leadership team, your participation in the continuous improvement process is expected. This includes taking an active role in process improvement initiatives, employee training, utilization of SPC for process improvement and upgrading your current skill base.
  • Must be capable of revising and updating measurement requirements and procedures.
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to handle problems independently \xe2\x80\x93 proactive.
  • Must be able to handle change, promote positive and creative work environments.
  • Must have knowledge and skills with personnel development.
  • Must possess management skills, including time management, cost management and leadership skills; continuous cost improvement (effective capital improvements), process optimization, and factory-to-factory consistencies (cross company coordination and communication).
  • Must take on responsibilities to expand scope of job as necessary.
Other Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for Shift Supervisors\xe2\x80\x99 accountabilities, training and counseling, and professional development of self and subordinates.
  • Responsible for product test runs, new product research and reporting information.
  • Responsible to direct and maintain departmental meetings.
  • Responsible to ensure continuous improvement processes and promote team productivity.
JOB REQUIREMENTSThe successful candidate will have a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Business, Engineering, Operations or related field and a minimum of 3 to 5 years related experience in a food processing plant or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior supervisory experience is a must, with demonstrated proficiency in leading, team-building, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
