Opportunity
PCRS seeks an experienced Shift Lead for The 1.1.2., a 24 hour, 30 bed, youth transitional housing program in Surrey. The successful applicant will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing leadership, mentorship to staff and direct care support to youth participating in the program.
This position involves supporting staff on shift, crisis management, direct care to program participants, and providing coverage for team lead. The Shift Lead supports, mentors, and provides learning opportunities for staff on shift. Shift Leads also provides one-on-one support, transition planning and leads group activities including social recreation, meetings, and unit checks.
The successful applicants will bring their passion for supporting youth in housing, leadership skills and desire to be a part of a large team to the role.
This position supports teams who work in the evenings and on weekends. There will be on-call work, evening, and weekend work.
The position is an on-site position and not available for a remote or hybrid work arrangements.
Responsibilities
Provide direction and support to staff on shift.
Mentor and orient new staff.
Coordinate service delivery and programming.
Work with the Team Lead to ensure overall operations and service delivery aligns with contract expectations.
Develop supportive and engaging relationships with youth,
Develop individualized service and transition plans collaboratively with participants.
Assist youth in maintaining program expectations such as attending meetings, maintaining unit cleanliness, supporting participants to attend school, work or volunteer opportunities and maintaining connection with other support workers.
Maintain accurate case notes, monitoring youth progress, engagement, and participation in the program; other administrative tasks will be required.
Provide life skills support and lead group activities.
Moving assistance: ability to lift up to 50 Lbs to assist moving items such as furniture
Provide transportation to participants
Shift Lead is responsible for participant file management including, audits and reviews etc.
Liaise with professionals such as social workers, school personnel, and other community staff.
Provide individualized housing supports such as housing search support, moving assistance, landlord advocacy, mediation and liaise with social workers to support youth to find, secure and move in to safe and affordable housing.
Participate and engage in a collaborative and effective staff team.
Communicate effectively with coworkers and staff and participate in team efforts.
Participate in professional development and training.
Communicate effectively with coworkers and staff and participate in team efforts.
Advocate and promote the agency's services, funding needs and value to the community.
Community engagement including presentations and communications (updates/ newsletters)
Represent PCRS at community and official functions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, combined with at least one (1) year experience in a leadership role or CYCC or related diploma, 2 years' experience and 1 year experience in a leadership role. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Criminal record check, including the vulnerable sector.
Class 5 driver's license
Use of own personal car with business use insurance (mileage paid)
Drivers abstract.
