Penticton and District Society for Community Living (PDSCL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting people with diverse abilities in Penticton and surrounding communities. We provide support and services for people with intellectual disabilities, seniors, low income adults and families and persons facing homelessness.
PDSCL is looking for casual Transitional House Workers to join our team at Compass House. We operate seven days a week and are seeking coverage for all shifts.
We have many shifts available, so you can work up to 40 hrs per week and keep your schedule flexible or pick up a few shifts per week to supplement your other income.
We are looking to hire individuals with a desire to help others and an aptitude for interacting with a diverse range of people. The ideal candidate will possess the interpersonal skills necessary to support the shelter clients, maintain professionalism and practice workplace boundaries. The shelter support worker will provide support, advocacy, information, education, crisis intervention and referrals.
Qualifications:
Diploma in a related human/social service field.
One (1) year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Other Qualifications and Abilities:
Interpersonal skills, communication skills, analyzing and judgment ability, physical capabilities, initiative/independence, honesty, work standards, team orientation, stress tolerance, and acceptance of working conditions.

Responsibilities
Provide support and assistance to shelter residents during graveyard shifts, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
Monitor and supervise residents, addressing any issues that arise while maintaining a calm atmosphere.
Administer first aid and CPR as needed, responding promptly to emergencies.
Communicate effectively with residents and team members to foster a supportive community.
Document incidents and maintain accurate records of shelter activities and resident interactions.
