Responsibilities include:
Support women, gender diverse folks and their children, in their experiences of violence
Providing residents and callers with support, options, referrals and connections to community resources.
Provide trauma-based crisis intervention and crisis counselling services to callers and residents.
Facilitate dialogue and manage concerns related to resident relationships, house expectations, etc.
Provide crisis support, programming, advocacy and accompaniment.
Perform requisite administration, security, and maintenance, specific to the shelter program.
Provide practical support and information to help clients navigate various systems and services.
The successful candidate will have:
Post secondary degree or diploma in Social Work, Counselling or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years experience supporting and advocating for women and/or gender diverse folks.
Proven ability in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and advocacy
Training and experience in gender-based violence, including sexual violence, childhood sexual abuse and human trafficking.
Training and experience in trauma informed approach, mental health and harm reduction support.
Proven ability to work from an anti-oppressive, anti-racist, feminist counselling framework.
Experience working in a shelter environment.
Awareness of rural and cultural barriers abused people face.
Demonstrated experience with program planning, development, delivery and evaluation.
Solid administration and organizational skills, with strong computer competency.
Working knowledge of current community resources.
Current Standard First Aid, CPR
Second language highly preferred.
Vulnerable sector check and vaccinated for Covid-19.
